The nCIRCL software is available as applications for Windows and MacOS, as well as VST and AU plug-ins for digital audio workstations.

There are software applications that can convert a stereo track into a surround track. These products are called upmixers. By creating a simulated surround mix from a stereo source, upmixers are a useful tool for television broadcasters. However, in the case of music, the results have been mostly disappointing. Most upmixers use perceptual tricks to simulate the surround effect. Phase shift, delay, reverb and equalisation are used to create the additional channels. The result is often more of a gimmick than a good thing.

That’s why we were rather sceptical when we heard about the new DejaVu upmixing technology from Frank Foti’s new company, Syndicate of Sounds. Come on, hasn’t it been tried a bunch of times already? Then we listened to it and became instant fans. It’s something really new and different to anything that’s come before.
